Aluminum Picket Railing – Black Matte, Fascia Mount

Build a clean, modern picket railing from our Black Matte aluminum square tube. Every picket is the same 1-9/16" (1.57") square tube, fascia mounted to the side of your porch, deck or concrete step. There are no separate posts and no bottom rail, just evenly spaced pickets and a continuous top rail.

What you need

	Square Handrail Tube, 1-9/16", Black Matte Aluminum Used for every picket and for the top rail. Order it in the lengths you need and cut the pickets to height.
	Square Threaded End Cap, Black One per picket on the straight runs. It fits in the top of the picket and screws to the underside of the top rail.
	Pyramid Handrail Bracket, Black Matte Our signature bracket. Its top plate pivots to match the stair angle, so it's used on every stair picket. Use it on every picket if you want the same look throughout.

How it goes together

At the bottom (fascia mount): each picket is fastened to the side of the porch or step with two anchors, spaced as far apart as possible. On concrete, use 3/8" Tapcon screws, with the top one at least 3" below the top edge of the concrete. Because the tube is hollow, slide a snug filler block into the bottom of the picket (for example a 2x2 ripped to about 1-3/8" square, pressure-treated or PVC trim board) so the tube doesn't squeeze in when you tighten the screws. Tighten until the picket is firm, then stop.

At the top, straight runs: nothing is welded. Drill the underside of the top rail at each picket location, screw a threaded end cap to the rail, then push the picket onto the end cap. Work one picket at a time down the run.

At the top, stairs: the rail is at an angle, so each stair picket gets a Pyramid Handrail Bracket. The top plate tilts to the stair angle and screws to the underside of the rail.

Spacing: keep the open space between pickets just under 4" (we lay them out at 3.8"–3.9"), so a 4" ball can't pass through. That works out to about one picket every 5-1/2" along the run. Space them evenly on each run so every gap looks the same.
